It’s True! Legendary Spandau Ballet singer Tony Hadley set to swap Aylesbury Vale for the jungle

World famous Aylesbury Vale musician Tony Hadley has been confirmed as one of the contestants appearing in this year’s I’m a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! reality TV show.

The hit ITV show, which attracts an average auidence of more than 10 million viewers, starts this Sunday at 9pm and the legendary lead singer from 80s hit band Spandau Ballet is one of 12 contestants.

Tony, 55, lives in Ford just outside Aylesbury with his wife and their two children and is regularly spotted at events in around the Vale and surrounding areas.

After splitting in 1990, Spandau Ballet reformed in 2009 and embarked on their latest world tour earlier this year.

requires its stars to take part in Bush Tucker Trials where they invariably have to eat things like cockroaches, fish eyeballs and a lot worse.

That’s not great news for Tony who has told ITV of his biggest phobia in an interview ahead of the show’s 2015 launch.

“I don’t like cockroaches,” Tony said.

“I don’t buy into that whole vacuous celebrity thing. What we do is a job at the end of the day.

“I am not going to burst into song every two seconds.

“I am going to be there to help. Some people might need more help than others and they might not be able to cope.

“I’ve watched the show in the past and some do get emotional. Hopefully I can give them a lift up.”

“The biggest challenge is not going to be eating camel testicles or whatever we have to eat but having no mobile, no books or music.”

The singer said he hopes to be a ‘shoulder to cry on’ in camp and admitted he will miss his wife and kids most.

Asked who his ideal campmates would be, Tony said: “Shane Richie, Rick Astley and Bobby Davro would be such a laugh.”

None of those will be joining him in Australia, though, but these definitely will as the nine other names confirmed with two as yet mystery celebs set to be introduced later:
