'It's all thanks to support of my wife and children'

A strongman who who fought back from bullying to inspire others to better themselves has triumphed in his first ever competition.

Sirtaj Rahman, who Mr Rahman, who is now 32 set up his own sports nutrition and clothing business Pumping Iron in Friars Square, and also works in the centre as a security guard and as head doorman at Aylesbury’s Fever nightclub.

The father of two competed in the UKBFF London and South East Championships in Hayes, in a bid to win a title.

And despite it being only his first competition, he came second in his class, and has been invited to the British Finals in October.

And Sirtaj credited his wife Bryony, daughter Jasmine and Son Isaac for being his inspiration to succeed.

He said: “I am so pleased with how it went, and I wouldn’t have been able to do this without my amazing family.”

He added: “I’ve been doing this for about 12 years, when I was younger I was really fat and I used to get bullied at school, the kids used to call me names like fat sausage and things like that.

“I used to weigh 15 or 16 stones in fat and my waist was a 36.

“Then one day I looked in the mirror and realised that I just looked horrible and everything changed. I wouldn’t be doing any of things I am doing now if it wasn’t for that moment too.”
