He’s known as being the nasty judge on the Strictly Come Dancing panel, but when Craig Revel Horwood saw his 50th birthday cake he turned into a sweetie.

The double chocolate fudge glitterball was designed and created by Waddesdon cake maker Carla Chynoweth.

And she was ecstatic when he said of the cake: “I was delighted with the amazing cake by Carla of Dreams of Cake! A fantastic addition to my 50th birthday celebrations at the Cafe De Paris in Leicester Square!”

The spectacular cake even made the pages of OK! magazine as the publication covered the star studded party.

Carla, 41, received the commission thanks to her sister Odette who is a singer and who knew the party organiser.

Carla said: “It was a real challenge because I had never worked with isomalt. It’s becoming common in the cake world, you melt it and it becomes liquid and at various setting points it can be used for different things.”

Carla’s husband Fraser drove her down to London on the day of the party and she said: “I was very nervous, travelling with a cake is like travelling with a newborn baby.”

Carla works part time as a British sign language interpreter at Bedford College, whilst also working part time from home with her Dreams of Cake business.

She said: “I offer a bespoke service and discuss everything with my customers. I like to make their dreams come true.”
