The new chairman of HS2 Limited Sir David Higgins says that he expects the Department For Transport to announce details of compensation packages soon.

An announcement on the final package, which was consulted on last year, had been eagerly anticipated by those affected by the proposals.

It is expected to replace the exceptional hardship scheme which is currently the only form of compensation available for those affected by HS2.

MP David Lidington said: “I am pleased that the announcement on the new compensation package will be made shortly as those affected by HS2 have had to endure a great deal of uncertainty regarding compensation.

“I hope that the compensation package will ensure that anyone who suffered a loss that is attributable to HS2 receives full compensation for their loss.”
