A blooming marvellous competition has been launched.
Aylesbury Town Council has launched its annual garden competition for residents, schools, organisations and businesses, which is part of the year-round Aylesbury in Bloom campaign.
Last year’s competition saw many new entries and participants and the council is hoping that the number of entries will increase again this year.
With so many beautiful, interesting and creative gardens within the town, this competition aims to recognise the hard work and time people put into their gardens, as well as inspiring others to get their hands dirty in order to enjoy the fresh air and rural wildlife.
No matter how big or small, whether filled with pots or pergolas, if it has grass or paving, is traditional or contemporary, if you garden at home or part of a community group then Aylesbury Town Council would like to hear from you.
Entrants can choose which categories they wish to enter and also during which month they would like the judging to take place.
Categories include Best Front Garden, Best Back Garden, Best Edible Garden, Best Wildlife/Nature Garden, Best Container Garden and Best Young Gardener. Participants can choose to enter multiple categories and with such a wide variety there is something for everyone’s garden.
The judging takes place during July and August and the awards ceremonies will take place in July for the schools and in September for all of the other categories, so everyone’s hard work will be rewarded.
All entrants must be within the parish of Aylesbury. For registration forms and judging criteria call 01296 425678 or visit www.aylesburytowncouncil.gov.uk – which also contains some top tips from last year’s judges. Registration closes on June 19.
