Have a butchers at EastEnders legend

The actress Pam St Clement, best known for playing Pat Butcher in EastEnders for more than 25 years is coming to Thame to sign copies of her autobiography.

Pam, 72, is coming to The Book House on Saturday February 21 at 11am to sign copies of her autobiography ‘The End of an Earring.’

The book tells Pam’s life story including her unusual childhood which saw her have various stepmothers and foster families after her mother died when she was a baby, and a father who was unable to cope with a child.

St Clements took up a place at a drama school in 1966 and worked on stage and television during the 1960s and 1970s, before taking a role as Pat Butcher in EastEnders in 1986.

Pat is best known for her large earrings as well as for her series of relationships and flings and for her four years in charge of The Queen Vic pub with her on-screen husband Frank, played by Mike Reid.

Luise Pattinson, manager of the bookshop said: “It is hugely exciting to have Pam coming to Thame.

“She was a huge part of EastEnders for almost 25 years and was the longest serving character when she left.

“Pam has a lot of friends here and it is great to have a British television icon in the town.”
