Haule bids an emotional farewell after stepping down as Moles boss

Haule was appointed in January 2017 and helped the Moles escape relegation trouble at the bottom of Division One Central last season, eventually leading them to 19th place.

After a steady start to the current campaign, FC have yet to win a game in 2018, losing six and drawing two – scoring just two goals in the process – culminating in Saturday’s 2-0 home defeat to Moneyfields.

With the team sitting 18th and on 29 points from 30 games, Haule made the decision to call time on his tenure on Saturday evening.

“Firstly, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the fans and the people behind the scenes of Aylesbury FC for making this place feel like home for me and my brother for a number of years,” said Haule in a club statement.

“It is with great regret that I hand in my resignation as manager of Aylesbury FC, a decision not taken lightly.

“To all the players I have collaborated and worked with, thank you for your sterling efforts. As a manager and as a player I need to make a special and heartfelt mention to the lads that have stood by me through the challenging time.

“Their loyalty, steadfastness and positivity has not gone unappreciated and each and every one of you knows who you are. I love you guys!

“Whilst being in charge, it was an absolute pleasure seeing the young talent of Aylesbury FC come into men’s football, very talented individuals and stand up young men.

“You are a credit to the football club and to your families. I hope the talent and promise you have shown continues to be pushed and promoted and leads to successful careers.

“I wish Aylesbury FC every success in the future. Despite the club facing challenging times now, its heart – and that is the fans and the players – beats strong, and that together with the focus on the long-term plan will stand the club in good stead.”

Everyone at Aylesbury FC would like to thank Davis for all that he has contributed to the club, both as a player and manager, and they wish him the very best for his future.

His last game in charge came on Saturday when play-off hopefuls Moneyfields were the visitors to Haywood Way.

In freezing conditions and on a tough pitch, this was never going to be one for the purist but Moneyfields will not care after coming away with all three points.

The visitors made a slow start but took a lead into half-time with a goal late in the first period, and it came about in unfortunate fashion for FC whose ‘keeper Ashley Jenkins miscued a goal-kick and striker Stephen Hutchings gratefully gobbled up the chance.

The Moles piled on the pressure late in the game but no equaliser was forthcoming and instead it was Moneyfields who scored again through Howard Neighbour’s stoppage-time strike.

Life after Haule gets off to a tough start this weekend when FC travel to third-placed Hartley Wintney.
