Half term and Halloween fun

At Waddesdon Manor the Halloween Hoot Trail starts on the first day of half term, Saturday October 24 and goes right through to Halloween, Saturday October 31. Taking place in the Summer House from 10am - 3pm each day, visitors can follow the Halloween Hoot Trail and see how many of Mimi the Mynah’s owl friends they can spot in fancy dress. Collect stickers for each one found, to complete the owl tree trail. Cost £1 per child.

At the same times, on the same days, in the same location, there is also a chance to do some Pumpkin Carving. There is a limited edition of 1,000 pumpkins grown especially for the event, giving a chance for visitors to get creative. Charge £4 per pumpkin. Although, if you visited Waddesdon in May and took part in the Plant It, Grow It, Eat It event and planted a pumpkin yourself, do take it along for carving and there will be no charge for the carving event if you take your own pumpkin.

Over the weekend (from 10am - 3pm on Saturday October 24 and Sunday October 25), the RSPB Days are being held in the Summer House. Visitors can discover the fantastic green-fingered work of the country’s largest conversation group and pick up practical tips on how to make your own garden wildlife friendly.

Halloween takes off with a Pumpkin Party from 10am - 3pm on Friday October 30 and Saturday October 31 in the Summer House

Join trainee spell casters Winnie the Witch and Warwick the Wizard as they practice their art. But mind your heads as their spells zip and zing about the skies, and keep an ever watchful eye on their spell book - it holds secrets that event they sometimes don’t know. Visitors can help Winnie and Warwick collect the ingredients for their magic potions, but you’ll need to be careful as they are not always sure what the results will be.

Can you pluck up the courage and risk trick or treat in the Horrible Halloween Games. Charge, 50p a go.

On the same days, from 10am - 3pm Friday October 30 and Saturday October 31, in the Family Activity Room of The Stables, there will be art and craft activities with local artist Stu McLellan. This is a chance to keep little hands and minds busy with the creator of the lovable Mimi the Mynah character. Cost £2 per child.
