Parents also each received a card with a tea bag and biscuit inside, as a ‘Thank you” from the school for their support.

The school highlighted that In these difficult times it is hard for parents to find the money to buy new uniform so a key criteria for the team researching uniforms, was to keep the cost as low as possible whilst at the same time, finding a hardy material and a smart style.

Settling on the colour took some time, as the school was keen to ‘stand out’ from the crowd and clearly identify the children as being from Great Horwood School.

The colour is also associated with religion which, as a Church of England school, the team felt to be fitting!

A parent commented on the first day back: “ We are all loving the new uniform. The Burgundy colour looks really smart and my two were proud to be wearing it when they headed off to school.”

The idea for the personal card, tea bag and biscuit was a joint effort from the management team at the School.

“It will be hard leaving children again when they have been at home so long,” said Sarah Biswell, Chair of Governors.

“I hope the good old British ‘cure all’ of a cup of tea and a sweet biscuit, will cheer up any parents feeling low, and let them know we care. Their support for the school and our new uniform, has been much appreciated”
