A grandmother is determined to reunite two soft toys she found in a supermarket car park with their young owner.

Valerie Cooper, in her 60s, discovered the stuffed grey rabbit and teddy bear in the car park of the Aldi supermarket in Cambridge Street, Aylesbury after she did her shopping at around 10am on Thursday, March 26.

The grandmother-of-two said: “I found them soaking wet at the bottom of the car park, looking very forlorn, so I took them into the shop but they said they don’t have a lost property department.

“I didn’t want them to just throw them away so I took them home, brushed the mud off them, washed them and now they’re sitting in an arm chair in my living room.”

Despite a campaign on local Facebook groups – which are often used to successfully reunite people with their lost items – no one has come forward to claim the toys, but Mrs Cooper says she is not going to give up.

The former foster carer, who lives in Okeley Lane, Tring, said: “I can’t bear the thought of a little boy or girl out there crying out for their teddy.”
