Jamie Franceschini, 12, who attends the Grange won silver medals in two categories (the 3-3-3 and the cycle) in his age group.

On each occasion, he was pipped by a competitor from Korea.

He also finished fourth in the 3-6-3 category in his age group.

The results are also combined across all age groups and overall Jamie finished 10th (3-3-3), 19th (3-6-3) and 17th (cycle).

Jamie’s proud dad Paul, who travelled to the championships in Speichersdorf, Germany said: “I was a nervous wreck and I was just watching!

“He was the first competitor in the arena and that was his decision.

“He knew when he was ready and he was as cool as a cucumber.”

Jamie, who lives in Chiltern Street set a British record with his time in the 3-3-3 category - 1.701 seconds.

He also won a bronze medal in the team competition finishing third in the 3-6-3 relay with Team UK Aces.

Mr Franceschini added: “There are four events in Britain which Jamie is looking to compete in.

“He may go to the next world championships as well if Great Britain sends a team.”

He added that Jamie was set to put in lots of extra practice over the Easter holidays.

Cup-stacking, a recognised sport, involves competitors stacking plastic cups in set sequences either against the clock or an opponent.
