An online campaign, Get Fit and Lean in 2016, has been launched for people who have listed losing weight or toning up as their New Year’s resolution.
Each day throughout January, Cherwell District Council’s recreation and health team will promote a different club or fitness routine on its Facebook page.
The messages will range from exercise routines that can be completed at home or work to clubs and activities supported by the council across the district.
Cllr George Reynolds, Cherwell’s deputy leader, said: “One of the most common New Year’s resolutions is to get fit, tone up and lose weight and we want to help with that. Not everyone wants to sign up to a gym or make that financial commitment so we want to promote the other opportunities which are available with our Get Fit and Lean in 2016 campaign.
“Each day the team will promote a different activity or fitness routine that can be completed at home or work. Whether people would prefer to get fit with a sports club, dance their way to a better body with Zumba or exercise in the privacy of their own home, we will be working hard to offer something for everyone.”
The messages will be posted daily until January 31 and will include demonstration videos where relevant. Contact details will be included for any clubs so residents can find out more before signing up.
