Prior to opening in the West End, David Walliams’ massively popular Gangsta Granny takes to the stage with a live production this month.
So if you and your children need a new year lift, you might enjoy a trip to New Theatre, Oxford, to see the world premiere of this amazing story by Walliams, who is the UK’s best selling author for children.
The acclaimed producers of Horrible Histories, The Birmingham Stage Company, are presenting the stage show, so it promises to be a treat for all concerned.
The story opens on a Friday night with Ben feeling fed up as he is staying with his Granny and he is not looking forward to the experience as he knows it will mean cabbage soup, cabbage pie and cabbage cake.
But what Ben doesn’t know is that Granny has a secret, and Friday nights are about to get way more exciting than he could ever imagine, as he embarks on the adventure of a lifetime with his very own Grangsta Granny.
During Christmas 2013 a television version of Gangsta Granny was shown on BBC1 with an all-star cast including David Walliams himself as well as Julia McKenzie, Miranda Hart, Robbie Williams and Joanna Lumley.
Gangsta Granny can be enjoyed by everyone from five to 105. It’s laugh out loud with some brilliant comic scenes but also has very moving and truthful things to say about family relationships.
Gangsta Granny Live On Stage will be at New Theatre, Oxford from Tuesday January 12 through to Saturday 16 with a mixture of morning, afternoon and evening performances.
