People at Anchor’s Buckingham Lodge care home in Buckingham Park hosted a celebration in recognition of the momentous occasion for resident Alfred Xerri – known as Sid, aged 88.

Sid was joined by fellow Freemason lodge members John, Ron, Andy and John and together they enjoyed celebration cake and bubbly.

Sid received a 50-year certificate and badge to honour his long membership, presented by fellow Freemason John, at the celebration held on Tuesday, March 1.

Sid was responsible for proposing the four members between 34 and 46 years ago, was Master of three lodges over the years and was instrumental in bringing in at least a dozen new members in Leighton Buzzard.

Sid now has honorary membership in recognition of his dedication and all the work he did over the years.

He said: “It was lovely to see the chaps, I remember them all well.”

Julie Chanel, customer relations manager at Buckingham Lodge, said: “It was lovely to see some of Sid’s fellow members honour him in this way.

“The event was all about providing a memorable day for our lovely Sid.”
