Former Waddesdon School pupil living the Disney dream

From teenage acting sensation to working with Disney, it's been a whirlwind few years for Georgia Lock.

The former Waddesdon School pupil started acting lessons at the age of eight in an attempt to improve her self-confidence.

Just five years later, she was playing the main character in the CBBC drama Sadie J, which ran from 2011 to 2013.

She can now be found starring in Evermoor, which is currently airing on the Disney Channel.

Georgia, 19, who lives in Waddesdon, said: “I did a couple of adverts at the age of 11 for Clarks.

“I then went for open auditions at the age of 12 for Sadie J.

“I had three auditions for that and I was really lucky to get the part.

“I started at the age of 13 and I missed a lot of school for that.

“I had a tutor on set so I was filming and studying.”

Sadie J lasted for three series and alongside that Georgia presented the first four series of Friday Download, a children’s entertainment programme on CBBC.

She said: “It took me a little while to get used to presenting.

“I was pretty shy at the start but now I really enjoy it.”

In 2014, Georgia was successful in auditions organised by Disney, landing a role in Evermoor.

It tells the story of an American teenager who moves from the United States to a fictitious village in the UK called Evermoor.

Georgia plays a sibling of the main character.

She said: “I’m waiting to see if Evermoor gets re-commissioned at the moment.

“Disney are a great company to work for, they sent me to America to cover a music awards ceremony, which was great.

“Potentially I might have another project with them coming up, but I can’t say any more at the moment.”

Georgia also co-presented on the first series of First Class Chefs, a children’s cookery programme also on the Disney Channel, alongside chef Michel Roux Jr.

Georgia said: “It’s amazing working with Michel.

“He is very passionate about food and it is great working with someone who really loves what he does.”

She added that she was enjoying her relatively new-found fame.

She said: “I do get recognised some of the time which is very flattering.

“It is great to know that people enjoy watching the programmes that you are making.”
