Cllr Blake said: “Aylesbury Vale has a challenging target of completing around 30,000 new homes in the next twenty years and so this development will go a long way to help achieve this.

“It has been my pleasure to lay one of the first bricks here today at Kingsbrook and I am very much looking forward to watching the development take shape. “Well done to Barratt Homes for converting a vision into a reality.”

The project is built in three phases and will be made up of three distinct villages: Oakfield Village, Orchard Green and Canal Quarter.

Developers Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes will build the new houses over the next ten years and have already been inundated with sales enquiries from local buyers.

Barratt Homes operations director James Dunne said: “With so much work undergone to bring us to this point, it is an exciting time for us to start laying the foundations for the first new homes here at Kingsbrook.

“Our thanks go to everyone involved for their continued support in the delivery of these new homes here in Aylesbury and we look forward to watching the thriving community start to take shape.”

At the event, Barratt Homes also extended its thanks to the local community for its patience during the construction phases of the development, especially to those immediately neighbouring the Kingsbrook site.

Mr Dunne added: “We fully appreciate that the delivery of a development of this size can cause inconvenience to the local community.

“We are working hard to keep everyone informed of our build programme, reduce any unnecessary disruption and would welcome local residents getting in touch with us directly should they have any concerns.”
