Councillor Llew Monger, who represents Winslow says that plans for a development, which will include the school, the new railway station and business premisis is missing a vital crossing with traffic lights.

Mr Monger has written to Aylesbury Vale District Council’s strategic development control committee expressing his concerns.

The committee is due to discuss the application again at their meeting next week.

Mr Monger said: “The problem is that there is no provision for a safe crossing, the cycle path going from Buckingham to Winslow will be going through, but on the opposite side of the road.

“Kids going to the school and the station will cycle up the cycle path but will then be expected to cross the road
onto the school side without the benefit of a controlled crossing.

“There is no way that I can support a situation where children have to cross the A413 at the busiest part of the day.”

And Mr Monger said that that one of two kinds of crossing should be included in the scheme.

He said: “I would like to see a panda (traffic light controlled) crossing, or even better, still, traffic lights for the
junction with a crossing included.”

He added: “I don’t want to be the one who writes and says I told you so when the first child is killed, the
safety of children is paramount.”
