FARMING MATTERS: Competition time for YFC and a great day out for the whole family at Waddesdon Country Show

The annual Buckinghamshire Young Farmers rally takes place today (Saturday), with plenty of attractions and interest for everyone young and old - whether you are from the countryside or the town.

In addition to going there to report on the show, I have also been asked to judge one of the competitions, which should be fun.

The young farmer competitions are one of the best bits of the day and this year there will be the popular tug of war, bale stacking and bath race, as well as all the home crafts, stock judging and vehicle identification.

Aylesbury senior and junior clubs are hosting this year’s rally, called the Waddesdon Country Show and taking place at The Bail on the Waddesdon estate.

The members are very excited about a new competition they have introduced - the viral video.

They have challenged all the Bucks clubs, from Buckingham in the north of the county to Wycombe in the south and all others in between, to make a video promoting the show, so it will be extremely interesting to see what they all come up with.

Main ring attractions include The Welsh Axemen, and the showground will include plenty of stalls, arts and crafts, a farmers market, vintage tractors and an animal corner.

Entry is £10 for adults, £5 for children aged six to 16, free for under fives and £25 for a family ticket (including two adults and up to three children).
