Aqua Vale Swimming and Fitness Centre, operated by Everyone Active in partnership with Aylesbury Vale District Council, is taking part in the World’s Biggest Charity Swim to raise money for Marie Curie. The Swimathon will take place over the weekend of the 7th to 9th April.

Everyone Active is encouraging people to get involved in the event by signing up on the website. Over the last 29 years, more than half a million people across the UK have taken part in the world’s biggest charity swim event, which has raised over £46m for good causes.

This is the 30th year that the event has been held, and with the option to swim 1.5k, 2.5k or 5k, as an individual or as part of a team, it is a great opportunity for swimmers of all ages and abilities to get involved.

Marie Curie is the UK’s leading charity for people with terminal illnesses. Its nurses and hospices deliver round-the-clock care, vital emotional support, and expert guidance allowing people living with a terminal illness and their families to make the most of the time they have together.

“It’s always fantastic to see how many people turn up for the annual national Swimathon,” said Everyone Active Contract Manager, Mathew Nicholson. “Swimming is such a great form of low impact cardiovascular exercise, with many health benefits, and the Swimathon offers a challenge for every level of swimmer.

“Not only is this a great way to support Marie Curie but it may even inspire you to take up swimming more regularly.”
