And to mark the milestone at the Greatmoor energy from waste plant, £10,000 is being donated to charity, split between Buckingham, Winslow & District Citizens Advice Bureau, Willen Hospice and Miles for Men.

Work by construction firm Hitachi Zosen INOVA started in September 2013 and at its peak the site employed 550 workers.

It is scheduled to open officially in spring 2016, employing 46 full time operatives working for FCC Environment.

Gillian Sinclair, FCC Environment’s bid director, said: “This is a significant achievement and testament to the commitment of all involved to deliver a safe working environment. I am extremely proud of what has been achieved in partnership with FCC and HZI at Greatmoor EfW.”

The £10,000 will be distributed to local charities over the next few weeks.
