Aylesbury Vale District Council (AVDC) had originally intended to combine the by-election with the County Council local elections taking place on the 4 May. However, following a request from the requisite number of local government electors an election must now be held within 35 working days.

Peter Brown, Electoral Services Manager said: “Following Andrew’s resignation last year, we will be holding the Elmhurst by-election on 6 April. Residents are reminded that they can vote by post if they are away on this date and that the deadline to apply for a postal vote is 5pm on Wednesday 22 March.

"Alternatively, you can vote at your local polling station between 7am and 10pm on 6 April.”

Anyone who lives in the Elmhurst ward and whose name is on the electoral register can vote.

Polling cards have been dispatched to those who are already registered and postal votes will be sent to voters from 27 March.

Residents who aren’t already registered should apply via www.gov.uk/register-to-vote by Tuesday 21 March.
