The Rambert is presenting a programme called The 3 Dancers and other works which includes a Picasso-inspired piece, a dance inspired by the science of the cosmos, and a new piece. All three works will be performed at the Waterside this month, accompanied by music from the Rambert Orchestra, and there will also be a special BSL signed performance.

Inspired by the tragic love triangle behind Picasso’s masterpiece The Three Dancers, a new work, The 3 Dancers, from internationally renowned choreographer Didy Veldman explores the eternal themes of the painter’s work – love, desire and death.

The Strange Charm of Mother Nature, choreographed by Mark Baldwin, is inspired by the science of the cosmos and sees the dancers fizz with the energy of miniscule particles that create life, to music by Bach and Stravinsky.

Transfigured Night is a new work created by double Olivier award-winning choreographer Kim Brandstrup echoing the conflict between fantasy and reality and the complex nature of love. Four dancers perform intimate duets accompanied by Schoenberg’s lyrical and emotive score, while the remaining dancers form a chorus that reflects the emotional landscape of the piece.

At the BSL signed performance at 7.30pm on Thursday, February 11, different elements of the music will be interpreted including lyrics, pitch, tempo and melody.

The 3 Dancers will be performed at the Waterside at 7.30pm from Thursday, to Saturday, February 11 to 13.

Tickets cost from £13, with a special price of £13 for students and under 18s. Call 0844 871 7607.
