The victims’ dog, a one-year-old Cairn terrier called Paddy is missing from the property.

Dog owner Simon Reynolds told the Bucks Herald: “We believe the thieves took him away and went to the Tesco Extra/Cotton Wheel pub car park about one mile from our house.

“His collar was undone and discarded there.

“Paddy is a massive part of our family.”

The disappearance of Paddy (pictured above), has left Mr Reynolds, his wife Linda and the couple’s five children ‘devastated.’

Police say they are still working to establish if the dog was stolen or if it escaped from the house.

A burglary was also reported in Lambert Road between midnight and 7.50am on the same date when offenders tried to enter through the door.

They didn’t gain access but damaged the doors.

Investigating officer PC Natalie Powell from Aylesbury police station, said: “I would like to speak to anyone who saw or heard anything out of the ordinary in the Berryfields area around the time of the offences.

“Officers have been conducting house to house enquiries and will be reviewing CCTV footage from the vicinity.

“Of particular concern is the missing dog from the property in Hertford Lane.

“As I’m sure most people can imagine, it is very distressing for the owners not knowing what has happened to the dog.”

Call police on 101 with any details.
