A contestant from Aylesbury on TV’s Deal Or No Deal missed out on the chance to win a life-changing £90,000 – but he’s still £13,000 better off.
Joe Robinson appeared on the Channel 4 show, fronted by Noel Edmonds, this afternoon.
Contestans try to beat the Banker as they open 22 identical sealed red boxes containing randomly assigned sums of money ranging from 1p to £250,000. As the boxes are opened over a number of rounds, the Banker makes offers of real money to gain possession of the contestant’s box and therefore cut his losses.
Mr Robinson dealt when he was offered £13,000 by the Banker despite him still having not lost the £250,000 and £100,000 boxes – a particularly strong hand.
Contestants then play on to see how the game would have turned out.
Mr Robinson knocked out two low value blue boxes and the £100,000 in the next round and was told he would have been offered £16,000.
He then got down to the last two boxes with £10,000 and £250,000 and learnt the Banker would have offered £90,000 had he held his nerve and continued to play the game.
It transpired he had £10,000 in his box.
Mr Robinson told Edmonds that he was moving into a new home and that the £13,000 would help pay to decorate it.
