An actress and plus-size model who has just moved to Aylesbury is hoping to beat scores of hopefuls in a national beauty pageant.
Dawn Lowe, who has appeared alongside stylist Gok Wan on How To Look Good Naked, moved to Aylesbury last year, and at the same time entered her first ever beauty pageant Miss British Beauty Curve.
She won the title of Ms Congeniality Curve in the contest and was hooked, especially when she won a second title later that year.
And for 2015 Dawn, 44, is setting her sights even higher, by getting through to the final of the Mrs Galaxy category of the United Kingdom Galaxy Pageant which is held in February in Lancashire.
Theatrical actress and internet radio presenter Dawn, who has won sponsorship from firms including Crest toothpaste as a result of the competition, said: “Being in a pageant is more than just looks.
“It’s about style, confidence, fundraising, personality, how well a dress suits and fits you and of course beauty.
“We all enter a pageant with the hope of winning it, but we also help each other too with beauty tips and advice, it’s a lovely atmosphere.”
And Dawn, who recently appeared in the BBC3 sitcom Dead Boss said that she hopes her competition entry will inspire other ladies.
She said: “I started doing this because I thought it would be a bit of fun, but I do feel that there are people out there that are conscious of their body and me doing this might be able to help. If you like yourself and you are a good person it doesn’t matter about your body shape.”
