A service for Robert Mandley, who grew up in Southcourt, will be held at Amersham Crematorium on Thursday June, 4.

All who knew him or want to pay their respects are welcome to attend, and the service starts at 2.30pm.

The funeral service is able to take place after a second post mortem was conducted on Mr Mandley, after his body was repatriated to the UK.

Tests found that Mr Mandley, who served in the army during the troubles in Northern Ireland, and worked as a postman out of Aylesbury sorting office, died from a blow to the head.

Bucks’ coroner has opened and adjourned an inquest into Mr Mandley’s death, which will be held in due course.

Mr Mandley, 66, moved to South Africa with his late wife Valerie in 2008.

He died on April 20, after people who it is thought were helping him to move house killed him during a robbery.

He leaves behind brothers Chris, Nick and Don Mandley and sisters Sheila Mandley and Dianne Ateem, as well as extended family and friends around the Aylesbury area.

The family has asked that donations in lieu of flowers be made to www.victimsupport.org.uk as a gesture of thanks to the homicide department which has helped them during the ordeal.
