Jasmine, 19, who lives in Winslow High Street with her parents and brothers, said: “I received an email and a telephone call. I was really excited.”

She was then sent videos to learn the dances, and has been helped by Miss Hunt, the dance teacher at The Buckingham School where Jasmine was once a pupil and is now employed in the administration department.

Gangsta Granny tells the story of Ben who isn’t looking forward to the cabbage soup and pie that will be on offer at his Granny’s house. But what Ben doesn’t know is that Granny has a big secret and his visits are about to get more exciting that he could ever imagine.

Jasmine will play the part of a 12 year old girl and she has a four minute solo dancing spot, as well as a chorus piece and a small part walking across the stage. She will perform in all the shows taking place at Milton Keynes Theatre, where the show will be performed from Tuesday February 9 through to Saturday 13 in a variety of morning, afternoon and evening shows.

Jasmine said: “I’m really excited, because dancing is what I enjoy doing. My parents and brothers are all coming to see the show, as well as friends from school.

“It’s a lovely book for children, very comical to read and follow. I will be nervous, but excited at the same time, you get an adrenalin rush and that keeps you going.”

Jasmine has danced from a young age and has competed in freestyle and lyrical slow dance. Freestyle is a combination of fast, rhythmic gymnastics in a dance sequence, and lyrical is contemporary dance. Now she helps the students at the school where she works.

For the future she said: “I would love to share my enthusiasm for dance with others, I would like to be a teacher, but I would also love to be in more shows.”
