The police, along with ambulance and paramedics led a hearty round of applause for carers playing a valiant role in the fight against Coronavirus.

Thames Valley Police tweeted: "Great to join our @BTPBedHertBucks colleagues with our Inspector @TVPMattWilko and Area Commander @MLoebenberg, whilst on patrol, at Stoke Mandeville Hospital to #clapforNHS #SocialDistancing #ProtectOurCommunities @BucksHealthcare."

The whole of the UK united for the fourth week in a row to cheer on NHS frontline workers last night at 8pm.

Clap For Our Carers has become a weekly event as people across the Aylesbury Vale and the United Kingdom come together in a brilliant show of support for NHS workers.

Last night, Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab, who is deputising for the prime minister, said he and Chancellor Rishi Sunak "joined the nation in paying tribute to all the heroes on the frontline of the fight against coronavirus".

Prime Minister Boris Johnson also joined the nation in thanking the NHS and care workers from his country home in Chequers, where he is recovering.

A No10 spokesman said: "Like millions of people across the country, the Prime Minister joined in the clap for carers this evening, to say thank you for the incredible efforts of the country’s doctors, nurses and care workers."
