UPDATED WITH PICTURE: Dog walker could hold vital clues to Aylesbury Canal Murder say police

Police have released an image of a dog walker they believe might hold vital clues in the murder of a man by the canal in Aylesbury.

The investigation relates to the enquiry into the death of Clive Porter, 63, who died after an incident on the Grand Union Canal near Broughton in Aylesbury at around 12.20pm on Monday 26 April.

Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Inspector Andy Shearwood, of the Major Crime Unit, said: “We are continuing to investigate the tragic death of Mr Porter, which took place on 26 April on the Aylesbury Arm of the Grand Union Canal.

“Our team continue to work to establish the full circumstances of the incident, and I am now appealing to a specific potential witness to please come forward with any information they may have.

“The image we are releasing was taken at 12.10pm on 26 April, shortly before the incident took place, and shows someone who appears to be walking a dog along the towpath, near to Broughton Crossing, located very near to the car park on Broughton Lane.

“If you recognise this image to be you, or someone you may know, we would please ask that you contact us, as we believe that this person may have information relating to this investigation that could be very important.

“We are leaving no stone unturned and are very grateful to everyone who has come forward so far and provided information to assist with the investigation, and working out what happened on that day.

A 41-year-old woman from Birmingham was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and perverting the court of justice.

She has been released on bail to appear at Aylesbury police station on 24 May.
