On Tuesday 26 November a 13-year-old boy was walking in Churchill Avenue when three teenagers started to follow him from around The Church of The Good Shepherd. He had just passed Cottesloe Park, opposite Mandeville School, when one of the boys jogged past him and blocked his way. The other boys stopped behind him.

The boy in front of the victim grabbed him by the throat and pushed him to the ground and demanded he hand over his phone, which he did.
