Police issue dispersal order in Aylesbury Town Centre

We've had several calls from local residents concerned about the number of people hanging around in town, not paying attention to the messages from healthcare experts and the Prime Minister last night.

This follows further reports of people acting 'anti-socially'.

Police say they have made this move to prevent people in the community from being harassed, alarmed or distressed.

The Bucks Herald joins those calls to please urge people to not leave their homes unless absolutely necessary.

Thames Valley Police posted to their facebook page this afternoon:

"A dispersal order under Section 34 of the Anti Social Crime & Disorder Act, 2014 has been authorised by Inspector Davies of Aylesbury Police Station. This will cover the area of Aylesbury town centre."

Inspector Davies, on authorising the order for a period of 48 hours said:

“This dispersal order is due to groups gathering in the town centre and acting anti socially. It is to prevent people from the community from being harassed, alarmed or distressed by those involved”.

A dispersal order allows the Police to require an individual to leave the area if they are likely to be involved in anti social behaviour or crime. It is an offence to fail to comply.
