Knife-wielding robber jailed for ‘callous’ raid on bookies

A robber who threatened staff at a bookmakers with a knife has been jailed for two and a half years.

Joseph Corbould, 23, of no fixed abode, was sentenced for robbery, possession of a bladed article and possession of a class B drug (cannabis) at Aylesbury Crown Court yesterday (Monday) after an earlier guilty plea.

The charges relate to an incident on February 9 when Corbould entered the Corals bookmakers in Princes Risborough with a knife and demanded money, stealing a large quantity of cash.

He was later found in possession of a small quantity of cannabis.

Det Con Suzie Price, investigating officer said: “This was a callous robbery and I am glad that justice has now been done.

“Our investigation, charge and Corbould’s subsequent conviction should be a reminder to any offenders that Thames Valley Police will always do everything possible to bring perpetrators to justice.”
