Home of 70-year-old woman broken into in Chinnor

Intruders are believed to have fled from a home in Chinnor after being disturbed by burglar alarm at the weekend.

The victim, a woman in her seventies, was not in the property at the time.

Between 2pm on Saturday 13 June and 1.30pm on Sunday 14 June, offenders gained entry to a property on Thame Road by damaging a side door.

The first floor of the property was searched but the offenders may have fled after being disturbed by the alarm. Nothing was taken from the property.

Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Daniel Tibble, based at Abingdon police station, said: “This was a frightening experience for the victim, a woman in her seventies, and I am appealing to anyone who has any information to come forward.

“Several neighbours reported hearing the intruder alarm sounding at various times on Saturday, one of which was minutes after the victim had left the property. If you saw anyone waiting close to the property, or anything else that seemed suspicious, get in touch.
