Police are hunting for three people who attempted to break into the Co-Op store in Winslow High Street last night (Sunday).

At around 10pm a member of staff opened the back door of the shop and saw three people dressed in dark coloured clothing, with their faces covered.

One of the group was carrying a crowbar.

The member of staff slammed the door shut on them.

The group then attempted to force open the back door with the crowbar, but were unsuccessful.

They left the scene and nothing was taken.

Investigating officer Det Con Lindsay Russell said: “It was very fortunate that nobody was injured in this incident.

“We would urge anyone who saw anything suspicious near the High Street in Winslow last night to speak to police.”

Robbers also targeted the store on the evening of Thursday January 21, when they stole cigarettes and cash from the store.

Anyone with any information is asked to call 101 and ask for Det Con Russell.
