A prolific bike thief has been jailed following an undercover operation at Aylesbury railway station.
Lee Jonathan Davis, 26, of no fixed abode, was jailed for 24 weeks for stealing eight cycles.
Sgt Mark Summerfield, who led the operation, said: “Between April and October 2014, we had 15 cycle theft offences at Aylesbury.
“Many were sporadic, but in the week running up to the arrest, the offences became more consistent so we set up a plain clothes operation.
“This led to the arrest of Davis when he attempted to carry out another theft on October 24.
“I’m delighted that our team got to grips quickly with this problem and the undercover operation led to this persistent offender being brought to justice.
“I hope this serves as a warning to any other would-be cycle thieves that we will target you and put you before the courts if you offend anywhere on the rail network.”
