Following a Thames Valley Police investigation, a man from Aylesbury has been sentenced for sexual offences involving a child.

On Thursday this week Joshua Dealey, aged 31, of Buckingham Street, Aylesbury, was sentenced to five years and four months’ imprisonment with an extended licence period of seven years at Aylesbury Crown Court.

He pleaded guilty at a previous hearing on 2 June 2020, to one count of causing/inciting a female child under 13 to engage in sexual activity – no penetration, one count of causing a child under 13 to watch a sexual act and two counts of breaching a sexual harm prevention order.

Dealey will also remain on the Sex Offenders Register indefinitely.

Between 2 and 3 April 2020, Dealey engaged in sexual communication with a child online.

He was charged on 17 April.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Samuel Summers, based at Aylesbury police station, said: “Joshua Dealey is a dangerous and predatory offender who, having already been released from prison on licence for similar offences, went onto commit further offences during the COVID-19 ‘lockdown’ period.

“This significant sentence shows Thames Valley Police’s commitment to safeguarding the vulnerable and bringing offenders to justice
