An appeal has been launched after a well established silver birch tree next to Watermead Lake was deliberately cut down.
A notice from Watermead Parish Council on the tree reads: “We became aware on April 20 that sometime between 8pm on Monday April 13 and 1pm on Tuesday April 14 this very established silver birch tree was deliberately cut down.
“This is a criminal act and Thames Valley Police are making routine enquiries to all properties within the vicinity.
“Please can you help. If you have seen any unusual activity or witnessed the cutting of this tree please call 101 reporting to the attention of PCSO Danny Fahy or you can call the parish council clerk on 01296 641423.
“Please help us to stop this again.”
