Create your very own movie for competition open to Bucks and Herts youngsters

Budding filmmakers have the chance to enter a competition where the winners will be invited to an award ceremony at the BFI Southbank to see their work on the big screen and to network with film and television industry professionals.

But prospective Steven Spielberg’s will have to be quick because the entry deadline is Friday April 29 and before then filmmakers will need to develop, shoot and edit an original 90 second film or animation around the theme of ‘A Sense of Humour’ from scratch.

The competition is open to children and young people aged up to 25 who live in several areas of the south east including Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Berkshire.

Winners will be drawn from three age groups: primary (up to 11), secondary (11 - 18 years) and 18-25 years, and will be invited to attend the award ceremony at the BFI on Thursday, June 2, where they will get the chance to see their films on the big screen and to network.

Film and television industry judges including Academy Award winning action director and stuntman Vic Armstrong, will score the entries against 10 categories: Idea, Story, Look, Sound, Film, Animation, Design, Actress, Actor and Cast.

The competition is run by award winning video production company Elstree Film Design and is sponsored by several companies including Elstree Studios and Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden.

The competition originally began as a pilot two years ago and proved so popular Elstree Film Design intend to continue running the project into the future with the support of the industry sponsors.
