A couple who got married during the Second World War have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.
Dennis and Joy Swains, who met while at school marked the occasion with a party for family and friends at Mandeville Grange Nursing Home in Aylesbury.
Mr Swains, 90, said: “We were friends while we were at Challoners School in Amersham and we lived close to each other.
“I served in the RAF as a rear gunner in a Lancaster bomber.
“When I came home from leave in December 1944 we married the next morning which was perhaps not the most sensible thing to do!
“Joy made all of the arrangements for the day.”
The couple lived in Hyde Heath for almost sixty years and moved to Aylesbury four years ago where they lived in Craigwell Avenue.
They have five children, 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
