Work has started on the crematorium, however parish councillors say they are still hoping to have the planning permission quashed by the Appeal court.

Parish council chairman Sue Severn said: “Our recent public consultation showed that a large majorityof residents want us to continue the fight but we are still waiting for the Appeal Court to decide whether our action can go ahead. In the meantime we have had talks with Beard Construction, who are carrying out site enabling works and they have agreed measures to minimise disruptions to traffic and other inconvenience to local residents.”

A judicial review in March over the crematorium found in favour of developers Westerleigh.

The district council originally gave it the green light in December 2014.
