Aylesbury Vale District Council wants to become tax free within seven years, a move which would currently save Band D ratepayers £2.66 a week.

District bosses believe they can make up the £8m currently brought in from council tax by generating income through commerical activities and subscription services.

The saving would only apply to the AVDC part of the precept – other authorities such as police and the county council charge separately. If also assumes that the two-tier council structure in Bucks remains.
