At these meetings contentious local planning applications are debated and decided.

Video cameras in the council’s Gateway conference centre in Aylesbury currently film some meetings and broadcast them live online in the form of a webcast. The footage is then archived online giving residents the chance to review the meeting at a time of their choice.

On this catch-up option viewers can skip through the footage straight to the items they are most interested in.

Councillor Neil Blake, leader of Aylesbury Vale District Council said: “Webcasts of our council meetings have provided residents with unfettered access to AVDC’s decision making process, letting anyone who cannot attend in person stay informed of proceedings.

“The Strategic Development Management Committee debate issues which matter a great deal to residents and by including these meetings in our webcast schedule residents can stay up-to-date with major planning issues affecting their local communities.”
