Conservative Councillor Andrew Southam resigns

The Conservative councillor for the Wendover and Halton Ward, Andrew Southam, has resigned from his post after nearly 21 months of service for personal reasons.

The Conservative councillor for the Wendover and Halton Ward, Andrew Southam, has resigned from his post after nearly 21 months of service for personal reasons. The Leader of the Council, Neil Blake, thanked Mr Southam for his contribution to the work of the Council and the services he has given to the local community he represented.

There will be a by-election for the vacant seat, which will be combined with the scheduled County Council Elections taking place on 4 May 2017. A notice of vacancy was published today (13 March).

Cllr. Neil Blake, added : “I am obviously disappointed to receive Andrew’s resignation as he is a valued councillor and party member, but I’d like to thank him for his work over the best part of two years and wish him all the best for the future. The timing of his resignation allows for a by-election to be combined with County Council elections on 4 May 2017”
