Co-op joins forces with Aylesbury Charity to tackle Alzheimers

The partnership with The Aylesbury Alzheimer's Society, will help them to support people suffering from age-related memory loss.

The charity partner for the Aylesbury region, offers services including their ‘Bucks Befriending Scheme’, where volunteers visit patients in their homes helping them with house work and chatting to them, to reduce the effects of loneliness that come with Alzheimer’s and Dementia.

Hazlemere Good Neighbours has been chosen as the charity partner for High Wycombe and Thame, it assists the elderly by providing affordable, safe and accessible transport for those who are unable to travel alone. The support from The Midcounties Co-operative will help volunteer drivers to continue to give lifts in their own cars and the charity mini bus, making weekly trips to the Co-op in High Wycombe and Stoke Mandeville hospital.

The second partnership, for High Wycombe and Thame, will support Red Kite Children’s Centre, which provides guidance for struggling families, through group activities including Young Parents Lunch Clubs, Stay and Plays, Health Visitor drop ins and Post Natal workshops.

The charity partnerships will run for a year and form part of The Midcounties Co-operative’s Regional Communities strategy, which sees members and colleagues come together to provide impactful and sustainable support for local community groups through volunteering and fundraising initiatives.
