Culture vultures are well catered for in the Waterside’s autumn programme. Ballet, opera and Shakespeare are amongst the shows on offer.

The Bard’s most popular comedy, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, comes to Aylesbury in September before embarking on an international tour, followed by operas Rigoletto and Madama Butterfly in October and The Nutcracker ballet in November, writes Heather Jan Brunt.

And alongside these cultural productions there is drama, music and plenty of comedy.

Dawn French, Lee Mack, Jimmy Carr, Al Murray, Frank Skinner, Jim Davidson, Jasper Carrott and Mark Watson are all lined up for one night shows during the autumn months. So as the nights draw in we can be sure of plenty of laughs to keep our spirits up.

One night music shows include tributes to the Rat Pack, Michael Jackson, the Eagles, Pink Floyd and Queen.

Great British Bake Off fans will enjoy the chance to see Paul Hollywood on stage in November demonstrating recipes and revealing the secrets of being a TV chef.

Fans of our top British superspy James Bond 007 will enjoy Bond and Beyond later the same month, in a musical tribute to the iconic songs of the films.

And in October The Dramboys provide an evening of entertainment for the female population with their male glamour show.

Shakespeare’s ever popular A Midsummer Night’s Dream is at the theatre for five nights in September with Globe Theatre On Tour employing Renaissance costumes and staging.

Opera and Ballet International present Puccini’s Madama Butterfly with Korean soprano Elena Dee and Japanese soprano Miki Mori for one night in October. Verdi’s Rigoletto follows the next night starring Vladimir Dragos as Rigoletto.

And in November the Moscow City Ballet presents Tchaikovsky’s endearingly popular score, complete with live orchestra, stunning costumes and sumptuous sets in The Nutcracker.

In the same month Miracle on 34th Street offers a magical production for all the family as Christmas approaches.

But before moving into the winter there’s plenty of big name drama at the Waterside. The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde arrives for a week in October with a cast including Cherie Lunghi, Nigel Havers, Sian Phillips, Martin Jarvis and Rosalind Ayres.

And later that same month Peter James’ The Perfect Murder presents a dark comedy thriller with a cast of familiar television actors.

And then of course in December, Cinderella arrives!
