Chilfest arrives at the weekend!

For the third year running Chilfest will provide us with top original bands from the 80s this weekend.

This year’s line up sees Grammy award winning Billy Ocean, The Real Thing, Bad Manners, ABC, Limahl, The Blow Monkeys and Sonia performing on Saturday night (July 11).

The night before, on Friday (July 10) Sister Sledge famous for We Are Family and He’s The Greatest Dancer, hit the stage with classic disco funk alongside Shakatak, Shalamar, Jocelyn Brown and Odyssey.

The festival in Pendley Meadow, Tring always attracts large crowds, and there is plenty to keep everyone entertained. Tickets have been selling at a rapid rate, but a few are still available at selected outlets including Michael Anthony in Tring High Street, Rennie Grove Hospice Care in Wendover High Street and Motts Holidays in Buckingham Street, Aylesbury. In addition to the fabulous music there is a huge array of food and drink to enjoy at Chilfest and it caters for all tastes.

Food from around the world, including traditional British fayre, will include pie and mash, jellied eels, hog roast, strawberries and cream, burgers, jacket potatoes, toasted sandwiches, doughnuts, candy floss, tapas, a noodle bar, pasta, pitta bread, Caribbean cuisine and vegetarian options.

A vast range of premium alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and coffee will be on sale from the main bar, Carlsberg bus, Pimms bar, cocktail bars and soft drinks outlets.

The gates open at 4pm on Friday with the first live act on stage at 5.15pm and the night ends at 11pm. On Saturday gates open at 1pm with the first live act on stage at 2.30pm, and again the night will end at 11pm.

Tickets for Friday cost £34.50 for adults, £20 for children (four - 16) and £96 for a family of four (two adults and two children). On Saturday the adult tickets are £36.50. Family and child tickets are sold out.

Car parking is £5. This is available next to the festival siteand. The proceeds from the car park go towards Tring Rugby, Football and Athletics club.

In addition to providing great music and food, Chilfest has always been about supporting good causes and the local community.

More than £20,000 has been donated to Rennie Grove Hospice Care over the yearsto support the services they provide for patients with cancer and other life limiting illness.

No food or drink can be brought onto the site, although one small (500ml) sealed non alcoholic bottle is allowed per person.
