An award-winning wildlife film-maker who has worked with presenters including Sir David Attenborough and Professor Stephen Hawking needs your help so his business can reach its potential.
Martin Williams, from Wendover, submitted an entry into the ‘Pitch to Rich’ competition, where businesses looking to start up or improve themselves can receive funding from entrepreneur Sir Richard Branson.
My team are bursting with ideas in big budget natural history and with the money we could really do something with themMartin Williams
Mr Williams said: “My interest in wildlife film-making started at university when I did a biology course.
“I got into the student TV club and I decided I wanted to work in natural history television.
“I did some work experience with the BBC and gradually built up my list of credits.”
Mr Williams, 40, said he first set up his production company Talesmith 15 years ago but that he had decided to now make it his sole focus.
He said: “I decided this year would be the one I took the plunge.
“My team at Talesmith are bursting with ideas in big budget natural history and with the prize money we could really do something with them.”
Mr Williams has previously worked with Alan Titchmarsh on The Queen’s Garden, a programme that went behind the scenes at Buckingham Palace and Into the Universe with Stephen Hawking, a science documentary television series.
The winner in the start-up category at the Pitch to Rich awards gets a £150,000 marketing campaign, plus mentoring and business advice.
Mr Williams said: “So far we have had about 115 votes but we need about another 700.” Voting is open between 10am on Monday 18 and 5pm on Wednesday 20.
