Building collapses in Aylesbury Town Centre

We reported earlier that the A41 is now closed in both directions.The roads were closed at around half past one, as a chimney collapsed, making it unsafe for traffic to be on the road.

A Transport for Buckinghamshire spokesman said: "The High Street (A41) is currently closed in both directions from Tesco roundabout to Exchange Street roundabout due to a partially collapsed building.

Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue arrived at the scene and said the collapse left debris in the road, as a chimney collapsed.

They said: "One appliance and crew from Aylesbury and an officer attended.

"Firefighters made the area safe, set up a cordon and gave advice."

"Please be aware of this when travelling in the area and expect delays.."

Buses are now being diverted from the area - please check to see how this will affect your journeys.

Transport for Bucks said: "Transport for Buckinghamshire has been on site to aid with clear up and enforce a road closure on the High Street, Aylesbury.
