Still one of the largest one day agricultural shows in the country, farming is regarded as the backbone of the day, and entries in both the cattle and sheep classes are expected to be as good as ever.

The event provides an excellent opportunity for town and country folk to walk the marquee lines and watch the show animals being groomed and prepared before they parade in front of the judges in the show rings.

More than 300 individual cattle entries are expected in 60 classes with Simmental, Hereford, Jersey and South Devon amongst the breeds on show.

Over 30 sheep classes will see breeds including Charollais, Texel, Wiltshire Horn and Berrichon competing for rossettes and silverware.

And once more the show is pleased to confirm that it has been chosen as the Wiltshire Horn Sheep Society National Show.

Five equestrian rings will provide lots of opportunities to admire beautiful horses and ponies competing to the usual high standard with many of the riders taking part in qualifying classes for the Horse of the Year Show.

In the ever popular Home and Garden marquee there are classes for all age groups in things like baking, handicrafts, photography, wine, jam, flowers and vegetables.

The Countryside Area will provide demonstrations and rural pursuits including a display by working gun dogs and Hearing Dogs For Deaf People.

The hounds of The Bicester Hunt with Whaddon Chase, together with The Old Berkeley Beagles and The Four Shires Basset Hounds will parade in the main ring.

And alongside all of this will be over 200 trade stands of agricultural and non-agricultural businesses with prizes awarded to the most attractive stands.

The shopping marquee is designed for the smaller trader and includes a wide variety of retailers from children’s books to family photography and also a very tasty and delicious chocolate fountain with strawberries, fudge and marshmallows that always has a very long queue of hungry visitors by it.

After the successful launch of the cookery theatre last year, it will return with demonstrations and competitions showcasing various types of cookery with slots throughout the day.

And the Food Hall will be filled with retailers displaying delicious local produce ranging from biscuits to beer.

All this plus entertainment in the main ring provided by The Royal Artillery Band and the Bolddog Lings Stunt Team.

The show takes place at Weedon Park on the outskirts of Aylesbury from 8am-6pm on Thursday August 27.
