Bosses of Thames Valley Ambulance Service are arrested

Police searched the Bletchley offices of the Thames Valley Ambulance Service last Thursday.

A male and a female were arrested and released on police bail after interview.

Bags of equipment, including medical drugs, were removed from the offices in Watling Terrace.

The company, originally founded as a family business, hires out private ambulances and paramedic services to the organisers of private events.

They work alongside the NHS to provide patient transport in emergency situations.

The company’s website states it is a “well respected business” with a reputation for outstanding customer satisfaction. A spokesman told the Citizen: “Somebody has a vendetta against us and is causing trouble. We’ve done nothing wrong and we hope police will realise that.”

She said business was continuing as normal despite the arrests. Meanwhile the ambulance service is facing problems with the Care Quality Commission, which is responsible for its regular inspections.

A special notice on the CQC website states: “Action is being taken against the provider of this service.”

The notice adds that the action is to protect the “safety and welfare” of people who use the service. A spokesman for Beds police confirmed a warrant under the Theft Act was executed at Watling Terrace. She said: “The same day, a 45-year-old man from Marston Moretaine, Bedfordshire, was arrested on suspicion of theft.A 45-year-old woman from Marston Moretaine, was arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods.”
